Sale 2nd XI finally got back to winning ways as they hosted bottom club Stockport Georgians on Saturday. Sale chose to bat first in the hot weather, a decision that paid off almost immediately, with Moore taking early wickets to leave the visitors on 40-4.
However as the Sale bowlers began to wilt in the hot conditions Mahmood took advantage, sometime fortunate, but always quick to punish any bad deliveries, he reached 68 before Watterson bowled him.
Moore returned briefly to claim his 5th wickets (12-2-34-5), before Watterson cleaned up the tail (16-1-62-4) to leave Stockport 157 all out.
Boothman got Sale off to a good start, scoring a brisk 29 before tiredness induced a rash drive to mid-off. With Sale at 48-3 Stockport were in with a chance, however the home side never lost another wicket as Zafar (60 not out) and Watterson (38 not out) saw them home with a 110 run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Zafar was the dominant partner, quickly accelerating Sale to their target with over 30 overs of the game remaining.
