Sale 2nd XI got back to winning form with a 25 point rout of visitors Tattenhall. After winning the toss and batting first Tattenhall employed the curious tactics of batting for a draw in the first innings! The seasoned opening attack of Almond & O'Donnell made early inroads taking 3 wickets between them. Opener Dowle was the only batsman to play any attacking strokes, and when he played on to O'Donnell (2-33) in the 10th over it was then a question of how long it would take Sale to get the final 6 wickets.
Owen & Knight then put together a long defensive partnership to try and use up some overs. Almond (3-24) was replaced by Tariq Butt who probed away with his off-spin, after several maiden overs his patients was repaid as Owen was bowled for 26. Once Owen had gone the rest of the Tattenhall attack subsided quickly, Butt finishing with impressive figures of 9-6-4-3.
Sniffing some easy wickets skipper Briggs (2-4) brought himself on to wrap up the tail. Tattenhall limped to 95 all out in 41 overs.
Sale opener Malik fell early to a brilliant catch from Drake; however this didn't affect Briggs who smashed 36 before falling LBW. Number 3 Davies (10 not out) batted in determined fashion as the Sale middle order failed against slow bowler Knight (3-30). Thankfully O'Donnell (9 not out) was on hand to see Sale through to their total and a maximum 25 points win in the 30th over.
