Young Player of the Year - The Midwinter Trophy
Young Player of the Year - The Midwinter Trophy
Sale Cricket Club has a long tradition of developing junior cricketers, the awarding of a 'Young Player of the Year' award can be traced back to 1972 when the Midwinter Trophy (named after long serving 1st XI scorer Harold Midwinter) was first awarded to John Mountjoy, who would go on to play for England Young Cricketers and Lancashire 2nd XI. The battered old Midwinter Trophy was finally retired at the end of the millenium when a new shield was established.
