 | Cricket Force Weekend 2005
|
|

 | |
Sale Cricket Club was one of 669 clubs in the UK who took part in the ECB Cricket Force weekend. The ECB designated the weekend of 2nd & 3rd of April 2005 as a weekend when clubs across the country would focus on completing ground and facility improvement and maintenance work.

| As part of our development plan we had previously identified the need to replace our sightscreens, both of which were coming to the end of their useful life, and the need to provide two screens at each end of the ground in accordance with Cheshire County Cricket League requirements. | |
Over the weekend of the 9th & 10th of April (our ground was in use for the mixed hockey tournament the previous weekend) we built and painted 4 new sightscreens. We also found the time to put up the practice nets and service the covers!

None of this could have been achieved without the efforts of two people. Firstly thanks must go to Bob at Trafford Timber for donating all the timber, however it was club stalwart Iain Harrop who sourced all the materials and designed and built the basic frames.
The following local companies supported our project:
Trafford Timber, 1298 Chester Road, Stretford, Manchester. M32 9AU. Tel: 0161 866 9882
Salmo Engineering, 2A Glebelands Road, Sale. M33 6LB. Tel: 0161 973 1219
H Varley Limited Castors and Wheels, Unit 5, Century Park, Pacific Road, Broadheath, Altrincham. WA14 5TH. Tel: 0161 928 9617
Sale DIY Centre, 2 Washway Road, Sale. Tel: 0161 973 0848

| | The following members of Sale Cricket Club took part in our Cricket Force Weekend: Joel Alderson, Pete Allum, Iain Harrop, Andy Holland, J P Lee, Andy Millward, Matt Millward, Rob Moore, John O’Donnell, Rod Owen, Danny Stoddard, Gareth Watterson, Graham Watterson, Alan Whitelegg and Ian Wilkinson.
To purchase 4 new sightscreens would have cost the club in the region of £3,500, thanks to the efforts of our members and the generosity of local companies the project was completed for under £500. |
WELL DONE AND THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED.
