Steve Asher (1962 - 2018)
(Steve Asher with the 1990 Manchester Association division two championship side - front row, thrird from left)
On behalf of the club we are all very sorry to hear that S J Asher passed away following a short illness on Sunday, he was just 56, our thoughts are with his family.
Steve was 2nd XI Captain in 1987 & 1992-94 and also served as 1st XI vice-captain under Howard Briggs.
He also served at honorary secretary 1995-96 during which time the club moved from the Manchester Association to the Cheshire County league.
He was a member of the 1990 MDCA 1st XI 2nd division championship team (see above).
Steve took 95 1st XI league wickets @ 20.85 with his slow left arm bowling and earned the knick-name "Slasher Asher" for his uncanny knack of finding the 3rd man boundary.
A club legend on and off the pitch who had plenty of good stories to tell.
