Spring Cricket Newsletter

Call to Action

We need all members (and their parents) to volunteer over the weekend of 9th/10th April for Cricket Force so we can get the club is good order for the start of the season.  Iain Harrop is organising the work schedule and the materials, all we need is you to attend.
If that is not up your street Jamie Broadbent is organising a Sponsorship drive around Sale and Sale Moor. We have printed leaflets we just need some volunteers to help secure match and perimeter sponsors.  We still need to secure additional sponsors so please support this day.  You can download sponsorship packages from our website and facebook page.
So you choose which activity, but we do need everyone to come down.  We the Grand National on at 5.15pm and the Anthony Joshua boxing match on later many of us will be socialising afterwards too.

Last Saturday of the Month

This season we are introducing “Club Night”.  We would ask all members to make the effort to come down to the club on the final Saturday of the month irrespective of whether you’ve played that day, there will be a social event on every night.  It is straight after pay day so you’ve got no excuse!
We kick off with "Opening Night" on Saturday 30th April.  More details to follow, please put these dates in your diary.

James Hall to Lead the Twos

We are pleased to announce that James Hall is going to captain the 2nd XI this season, with Ian Holland stepping up to captain the 3rd XI, and Nigel Davenport running the newly formed 4th XI.
Iain Harrop decided that his knees, back (and most other parts of his body) wouldn't stand up to playing twice a week, so happy that James was able to take over.  Godo luck guys!

•           Chairman – Paul Battersby
•           Honorary Secretary – Ian Dixon
•           Honorary Treasurer – Roger Lee
•           Club Captain – Chris Canning
•           2nd XI Captain – James Hall

•           4th XI Captain – Nigel Davenport
•           Over 40’s Captain – Iain Harrop
•           Junior Chairmen – Chris Smith & Nick Brooks
•           Fundraising & Sponsorship – Jamie Broadbent

Comings and Goings

We welcome Luke McCoy who has joined us from Widnes, and with Dan and Taz both expecting to be available more regularly that last season we hope to challenge for promotion again.
Brooke Guest arrives from Perth on 6th April, so please give him a big Sale welcome. He is available for 121 coaching sessions so please get in touch with Chris or Nick to arrange.
We bid a reluctant farewell to Keith Wellings who has taken up an offer to captain Cheadle Hulme, he has made a big contribution to the club on and off the field.  He goes with our best wishes and we hope to see him back at the club one day.

Clubmark Accreditation

We are pleased to report that we have been reaccredited for a further 3 years.  This demonstrates that we are safe and child friendly. A huge thank you to Nick Brooks who undertook this necessary exercise, one of the necessary jobs that often goes unnoticed.

Club Kit Orders

Please get your kit orders in through the all-rounder cricket website.  Lead times at this time during the year take a little longer so please allow 2 weeks for them to be delivered.  We would ask that everyone buys an official club shirt as a minimum as it is important our Sponsors see they are getting full value for their investment.
