Message from the new Chairman
For those of you who do not know me, I am Matt Millward more famously known as Tower (something to do with my height I believe). I have been a member at the club since I was 10 years old and Sale Cricket Club is my second home. You may think that is a little sad but I can assure you my love for the club will hopefully make me a Chairman who can think about the long term health of the cricket section and provide a fun welcoming environment for all members and parents to enjoy. I have seen the cricket section thrive over the last few years and I am proud to say I have helped to get us where we are today, by taking on the roles of 1st XI captain, 2nd XI captain and Secretary. Now as Chairman I have the task of taking us to a higher level than we are currently at. We obviously will try and reach the Premier league both 1st XI and 2nd XI after narrowly missing out last season, but we also need the whole club to aim to be playing the highest standard possible throughout, especially on the Sunday and Saturday 3rd team. Having come from playing in the Under 11s here at Sale I know how important the juniors are to us and how important we can be to the juniors. I have formed lifelong friendships through cricket at Sale and I cannot stress strongly enough how hard people work behind the scenes to make Junior cricket prosper at Sale. Having re-formed the Junior section only 9 years ago I cannot believe how well we have done, but I know there is still a lot of room for improvement especially in communicating with parents, I hope you can remember that we are all volunteers who give up our time through the love of cricket and are always here to listen to new ideas and any gripes you may have, at the end of the day my aim is to provide a facility and culture that people can enjoy.
The AGM was held on Friday 7th October and the following appointments were made:
New Sightscreens on their way
We have been looking at several different models and manufacturers of sightscreens to re-place our wind damaged old sight screens with a view to placing an order in January ahead of the 2012 season. We have been fortunate to receive a very kind and unexpected donation from one of our ex-members Neil Fitton. Neil’s donation will significantly help our purchase of new screens. Thank you Neil!
